The Bahamas is a leading player in maritime safety.  It ensures conclusions reached from investigations result in targeted amendments to international instruments.

  • The Bahamas collaborated with others to propose changes to the classification of Bauxite within the IMSBC Code following the loss of the BULK JUPITER (2015).
  • Following a fire in the cargo discharge system of SUL bulk carrier YEOMAN BONTRUP, The Bahamas submitted a paper to the IMO leading to amendments to section 3.1 of the IMSBC Code.
