BMA MANAGING DIRECTOR & CEO RETIRES
In January, the BMA bid farewell to Commodore Davy F. Rolle, Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) (ret), B. Eng. (hons), MIET who had served as Managing Director & CEO since 2010.
Commodore Rolle, a naval of cer of twenty- eight (28) years and a former Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti and Non-resident Ambassador to the Dominican Republic said, “In 2010, I was honoured to have the opportunity to again serve The Bahamas in a maritime capacity.”
Commodore Rolle ensured that the Authority kept pace with industry best practices and used the latest technology to interface with clients, offering a rst- class service.
He saluted the BMA Board of Director and staff, and the Bahamas Shipowners Association for their efforts in maintaining the prominence of The Bahamas as a major player in the maritime industry and as a world leading Flag State.
In Nassau, Bahamas a Dinner was held in his honour to acknowledge his contribution to the Authority and The Bahamas, and to wish him and his family well.
THE BMA APPOINTS CAPTAIN DWAIN HUTCHINSON AS ACTING MANAGINGDIRECTOR&CEO Effectivefromthe15thJanuary2018, the BMA has appointed Captain Dwain Hutchinson in the capacity of Acting Managing Director & CEO of the BMA following the retirement of Commodore Davy Rolle.
Captain Hutchinson is a Master Mariner with over 30 years of shipping experience including sea service sailing on a variety of ship types, including Bulk Carriers, Oil
Tankers, OBO, General Cargo, Container ships and Passenger RO-RO ships.
Captain Hutchinson has held several management level roles and responsibilities within the BMA ranging from management of Registry’s Inspections and Surveys Department to management of the Seafarers and Manning Department. Within these capacities, he has engaged with industry stakeholders and successfully ensured the effective implementation and the Registry’s compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), Long Range Identi cation and Tracking system (LRIT), STCW amendments and MLC 2006 requirements.
Captain Hutchinson has represented, and led delegation of, The Bahamas at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) where he served as Chairman of IMO Flag State Implementation (re-named Implementation of IMO Instruments) Sub-Committee; International Labour Organisation and Caribbean Port State Control Committee (CPSCC), where he served as Chairman of the CPSCC Finance & Administration and Technical Working Group and is the current CPSCC Vice Chairman.
The BMA Board of Directors expressed its con dence that under Captain Hutchinson’s leadership, along with the support of the BMA management team and staff, The Bahamas Registry will continue to grow and provide a quality service to its ship-owners and all stakeholders.
