Virgin Voyages chooses to fly The Bahamas flag

The Bahamas continues to cement its position as the preferred flag for the passenger ship sector with the exciting addition of the luxury cruise ship ‘Scarlet Lady’ – a new entrant to the cruise industry led by Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages.

The BMA’s CEO, Captain Dwain Hutchinson, was delighted to be invited onboard where he received a warm welcome from the Virgin Voyages team during the ship’s first port of call after registration under The Bahamas flag. Plaques were exchanged between Capt Hutchinson and Scarlet Lady’s master, Capt. Marco Carsjens, and Virgin Voyages’ CEO, Tom McAlpin.

Over the years of design concept and construction the BMA, working closely with the Class Society, shipyard and other key stakeholders, is pleased to have established an excellent relationship with Virgin Voyages. This strong association has resulted in the Scarlet Lady being fully compliant with international standards as it enters into operation.
