The Bahamas Shipping Association meets Bahamian Seafarers of the Future Category BMA News Date Posted 28 February 2025 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps (BMCC) is a source of great pride to maritime in The Bahamas as building national capacity is a key goal. Every year some 400 high school students attend the corps on one of the seven islands where it operates. The students are introduced to the many career opportunities available in the maritime sector with studies enhanced by practical onboard experience. It was therefore a great pleasure to be able to introduce visitors from The Bahamas Shipowners Association to this year’s cadets via a Q & A session. Answering the thought-provoking queries from the students were Domenico Rognoni Senior Vice President of Carnival Cruise Line, and BSA Chairman, Anne Liversedge, General Counsel to Teekay and also Legal Counsel to the BSA Legal Counsel, Ken Engstrom, President of SunStone Ships, Claes Berglund, Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Stena Line, Henrik Andersen, Head of Operations at MUR Shipping, Rajesh J Dhadwal, Managing Director & CEO at Campbell Shipping, and Anders Brodje, Manager at the BSA. As well as meeting the students from the BMCC, the BSA delegation was also able to visit the LJM Maritime Academy where Dr. Brendamae Cleare and her team led a tour of the facilities, including an impressive bridge simulation.
