The Bahamas proudly supports the IMO’s World Maritime Day theme: ‘Navigating the Future: Safety First! Whether in terms of GHG emissions, alternative fuels, automation in shipping or the adoption of new technology, The Bahamas firmly believes that safety must be the priority. Holding a leading role within several IMO working groups, The Bahamas is actively engaged in ensuring that the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remain at the forefront of our policy making. As maritime continues to adopt new fuels and implement GHG reduction measures, The Bahamas has taken a positive stance in support of these initiatives. The Flag has registered many vessels operating with LNG and is ensuring that training is available to underpin any new technologies that are under consideration by the sector.
