The Bahamas Maritime Authority is proud to sponsor the Annual Amver Awards Category BMA News Date Posted 01 November 2021 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Operated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Amver (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System) is a worldwide voluntary ship reporting system which promotes safety of life and property at sea. Its mission is to provide Search and Rescue authorities on demand, accurate information on the positions and characteristics of vessels near a reported distress. Every year the International Propeller Club, in association with the USCG, recognises those vessels which regularly participate in the Amver system, spending a minimum of 128 days on the Amver plot in any calendar year. Awards are colour coded to demonstrate the number of consecutive years a vessel has been eligible for the award. The Bahamas Maritime Authority has been honoured to once again sponsor the Awards with our Regional Director, Dimitri Tsiftsis (pictured above right) receiving The BMA’s honorary plaque of recognition from Costis J Frangoulis, President of the Board of Governors of the International Propeller Club of Port of Piraeus.
