Farewell to Denise Farrington Category BMA News Date Posted 13 September 2024 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) would like to thank Denise Farrington for her dedication to The Bahamas, initially working for The Bahamas Government and then transferring to The BMA. She first started working for the Bahamas Port Department in 1978 which fell under the jurisdiction of The Ministry of Transport but later transferred to the Ministry itself in 1985, working in Nassau. In 1990, she moved to London to start working for the Maritime Division, which was located at that time in The Bahamas High Commission building. With the establishment of The Bahamas Maritime Authority in 1995, the offices moved firstly to Aldgate and then later to 120 Old Broad Street, where it continues to operate. Denise remained in London until 2012 when she transferred back to the Nassau office where she remained working until her retirement on September 13, 2024. BMA Managing Director and CEO, Captain Dwain Hutchinson, said: “We owe a debt of gratitude to Denise for the contribution she has made to maritime in The Bahamas. 46 years is an extraordinary commitment to our country and we would like to wish her many happy years of relaxation and enjoyment in her retirement.”
