Jerry Mooney MNM AFNI AFRIN, Technical and Compliance Officer in The BMA’s Seafarers and Manning Department, has been awarded the UK’s Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service for his contributions to innovation, training and education within the maritime sector. The award was announced on the 3rd September, 2024 by The UK’s Department for Transport. Capt. Mooney, who has professional membership with a number of industry bodies, joined The BMA in August 2019 and is based in the London Office in the Seafarers & Manning Department. Captain Dwain Hutchinson, Managing Director and CEO of The Bahamas Maritime Authority, said: “This is a well-deserved honour for Jerry. We are extremely proud of his contributions to the maritime community, especially through his pioneering efforts in training and education.
