BMA Strengthens Ties with Japan’s Maritime Industry Category BMA News Date Posted 23 September 2024 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn With more than 99% of its foreign trade relying on the maritime sector, not to mention a thriving domestic shipping industry taking goods and people from island to island, Japan represents a significant market place for The BMA. With this in mind, a promotional week to the country was organised during mid-September. Meetings were arranged with a range of representatives from companies including banking and ship finance organisations, existing and potential clients, and other stakeholders of the Japanese shipping industry. The BMA delegation included Asia Regional Director Capt. Jahangir Hussain, Japan Director Hitoshi Matsumoto, Registrar Juanita Butler and Chie Funada. The promotional week was a wonderful opportunity for The BMA to showcase its commitment to the local maritime industry in Japan and we were very pleased with the positive response we received during our meetings. The visit will play a crucial role in enabling us to strengthen business relationships with the shipping communities in Tokyo, Osaka, Imabari and other neighbouring prefectures.
