BMA Promotional week in Japan, September 2019 Category BMA News Date Posted 04 October 2019 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The BMA conducted a promotional week in Japan from 23rd – 27th September 2019 to raise awareness of the dedicated BMA Japan office and to highlight the benefits of The Bahamas flag. Activities included a number of meetings with Shipowners and shipyards in the cities of Hiroshima and Kobe with the busy and productive week concluding with a seminar held at the Oriental Hotel, Kobe. The seminar was well attended by Shipowners, Ship managers, Government officials from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) who proposed the toast, Classification Societies and representatives of Japanese leading maritime journals. In his speech during the seminar, BMA CEO Capt Dwain Hutchinson thanked the Japanese shipping industry for their continued support, and highlighted the unique scope of strengthening the cooperation further in the coming days through a dedicated BMA office established in Tokyo for their mutual benefits. The seminar coincided with World Maritime and the contribution of female to the maritime sector was recognised particularly noting the World Maritime Day’s theme of “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community” The BMA delegation was led by BMA CEO Capt Hutchinson who was joined by BMA Regional Director (Asia) Capt Jahangir Hussain and BMA Japan office staff Branch Manager Atsushi Magaino, Registrar Juanita Butler and Secretary Chie Funada.
