BMA Joins ILO & IMO Working Group on Bullying & Harassment Category BMA News Date Posted 18 March 2024 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas is proud to be playing a significant role in the joint work on bullying and harassment currently being carried out by the International Labour and International Maritime Organisations. This work also incorporates sexual assault and sexual harassment within the shipping industry. As one of just eight members in the JTWG, The Bahamas was able to take an active role in proceedings and Capt Oli Olsen, Head of The BMA’s Seafarers and Manning Department, was very pleased with the outcomes achieved by the group at its recent meeting. The meeting was an excellent example of what can be achieved when there are good relationships between all the parties involved and all have a common goal. As a result of meeting, the JTWG has agreed to launch a campaign to raise seafarers’ awareness of the issues and the options available to them if they need to submit a complaint.
