Bahamas Shipowners Association’s 28th AGM Category BMA News Date Posted 25 October 2024 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas Maritime Authority was proud to participate in the Bahamas Shipowners Association’s 28th Annual General Meeting, with remarks delivered by BMA Chairman Jacqueline Simmons, Deputy Chairman Peter John Goulandris, and Managing Director & CEO Captain Dwain Hutchinson, who provided insightful perspectives on our shared goals and progress. Special recognition was given to the keynote speaker, Tianbing Huang, Deputy Director of the IMO’s Marine Environment Division, for an excellent address on regulating the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the maritime sector. BMA Chairman Jacqueline Simmons thanked the BSA for its ongoing partnership, sharing, “The Bahamas is committed to advancing through the IMO and collaboration with strategic stakeholders, and best practices in shipping. We fully align with the broader vision and objectives of the IMO for a sustainable global maritime transportation system. We endorse the IMO’s strategy for achieving net-zero emissions by around 2050, and The BMA team is an active contributor to industry discussions on innovations and design solutions that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships.” Constructive discussions with the BSA Board of Directors further emphasized collaboration in shaping the future of maritime sustainability.
