Simmons, and Deputy Chairman, Peter John Goulandris, were pleased to have a first meeting in London with H E Paul Gomez, the recently appointed Bahamas High Commissioner to The United Kingdom. The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Bahamas High Commission who appraised the BMA team of the ongoing diplomatic efforts relating to The Bahamas re-election to the IMO Council and several other issues being managed by the MIssion. The BMA Board members, who were accompanied by The BMA Managing Director & CEO, provided an update on the work of The BMA including the raising of national awareness of the maritime sector, the success of the Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps, and its positive collaboration with Bahamas shipowners. The BMA team recognised the invaluable work of the High Commission and offered its assurance to the High Commissioner that the Authority is committed to working collaboratively with the High Commission to ensure the achievement of the national objectives and effective representation of The Bahamas at any required fora in the months and years to come.
